This is a pretty significant departure from the long-time costume of the comics, if less so for the more recent one. As the MCU tends towards more practical realism, tights and leotards would be out of place. I tried to reflect these principles with the more combat-ready top, pants and boots. Not wanting it to appear too practical, however, I added some design elements to give the outfit a hint of fantasy, referencing Wanda’s magic powers.
Obviously as the Scarlet Witch, the dominant colors need to be reds, so when I replaced the cape/cloak with a long coat, I made it a rich red color as it’s the statement piece of the outfit. The vest, while more tactical looking, is a reference to the original costume’s leotard/bustier. One of the more iconic things about the costume in the comics is the M-shaped mask/tiara/headpiece, but while it works well as an easy identifier in the comics, I think it would look out of place in more real-world settings. Instead, I added a hood to the coat that would frame Wanda’s face similarly.
